Mrs Gladys Gammon and child

This is a photograph of Gladys Gammon and her son of 10 months, Frederick Rhyl Gammon. She was the wife of Samuel Thomas Gammon, of 14th Welsh Regiment, Swansea Battalion. She is wearing a crucifix sent home by her husband on the Western Front in the early summer of 1916. This photograph was promptly despatched to her husband, but it is unknown whether it arrived before his death at Mametz Wood, aged 29.
